Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

Gosford High School is proud to offer the opportunity for our students to complete The Duke of Edinburgh International Award. This award is a globally recognised youth development program that challenges students to step outside their comfort zone and grow as individuals. Each participant of the program learns a skill, becomes more physically active, volunteers in their community and undertakes a team adventure.

Beyond personal growth, the Award carries real, lasting value. It's internationally recognised by universities and employers as evidence of initiative, commitment and character, giving students a genuine point of difference on applications and CVs. Just as importantly, it builds lasting friendships and a strong sense of achievement, particularly through the Adventurous Journey, where students work as a team, often outside their comfort zone, to reach a shared goal. Students who complete the Award consistently look back on it as one of the highlights of their school experience—not just for the certificate, but for the confidence and memories that come with it. We warmly encourage students at all levels to get involved and start their own Duke of Edinburgh journey.

GHS has TWO pathways for Yr 9-12 students to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
