School counselling service

School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.

The school counselling service can:

  • support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
  • help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
  • assess a student’s learning and behaviour
  • help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
  • liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.

School counselling is confidential.

For more information about learning and support teams and the school counselling service, please contact your school.

Student counselling

As an education facility which is plugged into the needs of 21st Century students, we understand the importance of keeping abreast of all issues relating to the mental health of young people. In an ever-evolving world where new pressures are increasingly placed upon youth, we recognise the demand for an open, attuned and tolerant understanding of mental health, underpinned by positive psychology and contemporary research around youth issues.

We employ welfare professionals dedicated to ensuring all students needs are met, not only by way of their academic education, but in terms of their resilience and emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Counselling services are available and this service is conducted in a safe, respectful way.

We also promote a cross-community, collaborative approach to mental health, have connections with relevant mental health service providers and encourage parents to be active in monitoring their child's well-being across the whole spectrum of wellness.

Our School Councillors are :

  • Ms Genevieve Chivers
  • Ms Elise Russo
