Performing Arts Ensembles

Gosford High School has a reputation for outstanding musical achievement. We run successful Instrumental and Vocal programs.

The comprehensive band program enables students to actively participate in a music program that delivers an enriched musical experience, enjoyment and a sense of teamwork.
The Band Program has strong support from the School and band parents with an active parent committee.
Gosford High School Band Program has a band suited to all musical levels and needs.
We welcome all participants to the program and trust your musical experience will be both challenging and rewarding.

Concert Band 1: conducted by Mr Darren Jones and rehearses weekly 7:00 – 8:15am. Their repertoire comprises classical and contemporary pieces. They compete in a number of competitions and perform at a number of community events. Members must be 4^th grade standard or higher. Entry is by audition.
Concert Band 2: conducted by Miss Diane Gardiner and rehearses weekly 7:15 - 8:30am. They also perform classical and contemporary pieces along with some Jazz. They do some competitions but with a greater emphasis on school and community performances. Members progress to Concert Band 1 based upon ability, commitment and level of interest.
Training Band: consists of new members to the Band program. Students are taught correct technique and posture, moving through the note learning process together. Members progress to Concert Band 2.

Stage Band: is a smaller group of musicians from the brass, woodwind and percussion members of Concert Band 1. Their repertoire is more Jazz based. Entry is by invitation from the Band Conductor.

Chamber Ensemble: focuses on string and woodwind instruments. This group rehearses weekly during lunchtime. They perform at a number of community functions.
Vocal Ensembles: There are 2 Ensembles - Girl's Vocal & Acappella choir. They rehearse weekly.
